What my sister calls the "marital industrial complex" has been rightly criticized for its environmental impact.  When you're planning a wedding, there are simply too many things to think about without worrying about ecology as well.  I'm sure my college friends would be shocked to find that Jessie and I will be using disposable dishes, for example.

But when it came time to buy invitations, I drew the line.  Why should we shell out about $150 for pre-decorated invitations and envelopes with 0% recycled content when we just have to run them through the printer or copier anyway to personalize them?  Instead I used the Green Pages to find GreenLine Paper Company and bought 100% post-consumer recycled paper and envelopes from them, that are still fine looking and won't damage our equipment.

Of course an even better strategy would have been to take the product info to our local office-supply store and ask them to carry it, so that other people in our area could buy recycled without having to scour the Web.  Maybe next time.

As for the disposable dishes, we may find a way to buy those recycled as well...
